When You Least Expect It

The other night at Knit Knite, I was happily chugging away on my ripple afghan when I started to dawn on me that I had a very small amount of the yarn I was working with left. I crocheted a few more inches and then finally admitted that I would not have enough pink to finish out that row of the ripple. That's when it also dawned on me that as it was my fourth stripe of that color, I wouldn't have enough of any color to finish an entire stripe since they've all been used three times as well. That meant either buying 17 more balls of Cascade 220 Superwash, making this the most expensive blanket I've ever owned, or it meant that my blanket was done. Which do you think I chose?
I'M DONE, Y'ALL!!
Final dimensions are 67" long x 50" wide, when I originally was planning on 67" wide x 70" long. This, of course means that my ripples are rippling vertically instead of the typical horizontal ripplage. I have to say I am completely fine with this.

Treading Water

I'm just treading water, slowly making progress on my ripple afghan. I really wish I could crochet faster- each color (two rows, about 1") takes me about an hour and a half. My goal this weekend was to get past the halfway point- but I didn't quite make it. This blanket is 67 1/2" (171.5cm) wide, so I want it to be at least 70" (177.8cm) long. That is 70 color repeats, and so far I'm at 30. I'm still really enjoying this project- I've gone back and seen pictures from the start and I really have made quite a bit of progress. It's starting to get heavy, too- so far it weighs just over 2 pounds!

Another One...

This is my first time posting a pic of my ripple in progress, however I had many posts early on, seeking help from all you crochet masters. (THANKS!) I'm using the Soft Waves pattern and Cascade 220 Superwash. My ripple is 67 1/2 inches wide and I plan on making it at least 72 inches long. In other words, I have a long way to go!

My End Is Looking Weird

I have a strange feeling that this edge is just going to keep getting wider every row. Does it look weird to you guys? (I'm using the Soft Waves pattern) When I was working the chain, I ended up doing the increases into the last two chains. Now, every row after that, I still have stitches to work after those last increases. Is this how its supposed to be?

Thanks everyone for your help- I was definately not decreasing correctly!
Now I just need swatch again to decide if I should move up a hook size so the fabric will be drapier... that and await the arrival of the rest of my yarn! (Pretty much every color of Cascade 220 Superwash that WEBS had on sale)
I've seriously been obsessed with you guys' ripples for MONTHS now, and I'm glad I'll finally get to join in :)

The Curve of Duh!

So, I just looked up the dc2tog on nexstitch.com and I was leaving out a huge chunk of the process. I was basically doing this: YO, draw through 1 loop, then drawing through 3 loops. (twice)

The Curve of Doom

Okay, Ripplers. I took some close-ups of my doomed ripple and marked the increases with pink markers and the decreases with aqua markers. Take a look-see and see if you can figure out what I'm doing wrong- in other words, why the *&%^$$#* is my ripple curving? (I'm using the Soft Waves pattern)

Help, O Humble Ripplers

This is my first crochet project and I learned the stitches from the videos at www.nexstitch.com. I'm practicing swatches using the Soft Waves pattern, but my swatches keep coming out curved. At first I thought it was cause I was using too small of a hook. The top two were done with worsted weight yarn and 4.0mm hook. I then switched to a H8/5.0mm hook for the third swatch, and then to a I9/5.5mm for the bottom swatch. Now, I'm thinking the curve must not just be my gauge, but something else. Is this normal- will it straighten out as I go along? Have any of you had this?

Of course, I have to go home and learn how to crochet first, then wait for my book and yarn to arrive. I'll be using the soft waves pattern from the Jan Eaton book that a lot of you are using as well. I've ordered Cascade 220 Superwash for this project-- have any of you used it before? Do you think I'll like it?
