Getting things done!

Ok, I NEVER post twice on my regular blog, not sure what is going on here, sorry it is happening! I finally got it together and have some rows done after frogging 3 times! I'm still doing the Easy Ripple by SusanB but I'm making my rows different sizes(anywhere from 1 to 4 per color). Coming up with enough yarn doesn't seem to be a problem any more. I found 3 balls of something that has lanolin in it(sale from Hobby Lobby) and a ball of Patons Canadiana to go with the Dark Horse Fantasy. Not sure how much I'll get to work on this in the next week or so, my grandfather is dying from renal failure and we'll have to travel for the funeral soon. I'm sure the afghan will come with me though, gotta have something to do while visiting with the relatives. In the meantime we're building a guinea pig cage from pvc pipes and 1/2 inch wire, a BIG cage, that needs to be done before we go out of town.

Anyway, it isn't as big as it looks, only about 38 inches across.

hello, my name is

(yeah right, like i'm gonna post that here!) and i'm a lazy person.
yes. very lazy. i've been putting off blogging, for laziness purposes. thinking is exhausting. crafting as well.
but i'm back (i think), and i'm rippling, (can't show you pictures though).
i frogged some of my first rows, cause they were not looking good, and it required a lot of gymnastic abilities, but it's done, without having to frog all of it. i also took about 25 inches from the sides (also a manoeuvre deserving of Olympic medals - note the use of plural) cause it was too wide and sagging from the bed too much. it's good now, it looks good, it's good to ripple again, cause before it was so wide it was tiresome, and i got bored halfway through it. well, not anymore, i got a lot done. will try for some pictures in the near future.

A dish of delish!

When I finished row 4 today, I was reminded of ice cream - it seems the colours I've chosen so far resemble cotton candy (one of th best ice cream flavours, I may add). I had a sudden brainstorm - take a photo of progress thus far that looks like an ice cream sundae!

Slight problem - I don't have an ice cream bowl. So I settled on a cloche that I received in a swap. Imagine the crochet hook is a big fat ice cream spoon!

WIP: Ripple-Along -> 2nd colour done!

I attempted to use the stripe generator to plan out my ripple afghan, but discovered that I wasn't content with the way things looked. With that said, I'm taking a more random approach, and using various yarns I have tucked away in my bin. I want to be a bit spontaneous, but at the same time cringe at the thought of Linkhaving an ugly afghan! I will have to trust my power of choice at the time. And I'm using a blend between SusanB's pattern, and one I found on flickr (5 stitches instead of 6 mean more wave than peak).

I hear some interesting noises coming from the kitchen... must go check that out!

not much

to show you, since i've been sick this last week, which cut on my craft time. and, i've been pretty obsessed with my granny bag, so the ripples were left aside for a while. I did get back to it, since our rift is now past us, and here are some photos to show you:

This last one was at the moment of our rift. Now, I've added two rows of brown and two of green.

Two more of caramel to come. That's it folks. It's a big blanket, since hubby is both over 6' tall and a cover hogger! It takes me about an hour for each row, so it's slow going. Bye now

PS: This is a response to the comments, and seen as how it really fits as a post, I thought i'd put it here.

i had to do the border to cover all the mistakes from doing a few rounds of sl st without counting stitches... i cannot follow recipes, so i don't even bother anymore, but sometimes i get in these scrapes. fortunately, i'm creative enough to get out of them most of the times. and when i'm not, hubby comes to the rescue... which is why he deserves a blanket that actually covers all of him... poor thing, always has his feet bare in the middle of the night, in cold weather.
I don't know about the yarn though. it's two-toned, with some you could call lint all over it... i'll try to get a picture of the next skein to show you... as i'm basing the colour scheme from a portrait by van gogh (more info on my blog) and the blue is the main colour in the portrait, it should play a big role in the blanket. but there are at least three tones of blue in there, and i couldn't find anything that really worked with the portrait and with the other yarn, until the shop girl showed me that one. it was a perfect fit.
as for the granny blanket, i have it on hold, seen as how yarn is rather expensive in great amounts, and money is a bit tight around here, after my splurge on yarn this month... but i'm almost done with my granny bag!

I'm preeety pod'd

The ripple blanket is stalled, simply because I’m pod with it. I made so many mistakes due to trying to balance the weights of different clashing colours, it messed everything up. I found a simple way to solve these problems, which didn’t result in ripping. So, all is well, but I’m giving our relationship some breathing room, or I might be sorely tempted to dispose of it in the most shredding way possible.
Btw, how can I join the flickr group? I couldn't find the join thingy in the discussion page...
And I know squat about french. I'm good for portuguese, spanish, some italian and some catalan, and english of course, but that's it...

2 weekends of watching Lost episodes will get you this far...

I've been happily rippling along on my ripple blanket, quietly adding blues, blue grays, teals and whatever else I find laying around.
I was quite excited to find the Ripple-along and joined right up.
I'm finding endless enjoyment in seeing how the ripple stitch changes the interplay of colors, in my own blanket and in others'.
Looking at other ripple blankets, however, I realize I'm not decreasing in the same way everyone else seems to be. I'm just skipping 2 stitches in the "valley" of the ripple, as opposed to actually decreasing them. I actually like it, though, the lacey holes it forms!

The blanket is getting to be warm in my lap, so I hope to have it finished before the weather gets too warm. I started it for Project Spectrum, so I would really like to have it done by the end of the month!

Progress Report

Today is Day 12 of working on the Ripple Blanket. I am close to being done soon. I think that I have 90% of the blanket done. I love crocheting in front of the tv because it covers my lap and legs and keeps me warm.

Decision made...

I've decided to complete the blanket as is. I figured that I will need to add about 42 rows more in order for it to be a good size ~ it currently measures 291/2 x 15. I am considering two different options to add color. 1. border the blanket or 2. add ribbon. Not sure yet but I have managed to work 5 more rows today while listening to an audio book. I'll add a new pic soon.

I've another one in planning stage. I am still working out the colors that I have to choose from but I did take a look at the ripple generator ~ thats a great tool ~ to help me and I'll update as soon as I've decided.

Welcome to all the newbies and congrats to those who are progressing nicely. Beautiful, simply beautiful.

Have a great week!
