Christmas ripple done!

Here are the pics:

Christmas ripple done!

I made this for a Christmas present for a friend up north. I am washing it and will put it in a space bag, then at Christmas will mail it to her right in the space bag!
Its kind of fun and was very quick to make.

Christmas ripple-first repeat

Yes I did start a Christmas ripple. I plan on making a few for gifts so thought I might need to start now. I scoured the stores for holiday yarn and well....there is none. The lady in the yarn department at Walmart said the holiday yarns come in around September. So I got the multicolor red-white-green on Ebay and bought solid red and green Caron Perfect Match locally.

The red stripe in the photo looks a little orange, but it is not. Will post the finished product.

(Megan: thanks for your encouragement-I mastered the granny ripple pattern!)

Another granny chevron

Because the last blanket got such good reviews, and I liked doing it so much, I'm starting another granny chevron. This one will be in Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in Patio Pinks.

I have about 8 full skeins of the stuff and no clue what I bought it for... hehe so a blanket it shall now be. We'll see how far they get me... each ball is only 1 1/2 oz. so I may not get very far...But I can always add a bunch of rows in a similar pink to the ends, or the middle somewhere.. who knows. We'll see how far I get with 4 skeins then think about adding a middle section.

I'm using an "H" hook and going for an adult cover up blanket. Pictures to come later, once I get past the first few painful rows.

Granny Chevron FINISHED

I have had this finished for several days now, but just haven't gotten around to taking and posting pictures. I've been busy trying to get things done for the shop, buying new yarns *yea!* and working up some quick things to sell. So back to the granny chevron.... the pattern is from the 200 ripple book #190. It is 5 repeats done in Caron Simply soft. Some are brights and some are just the normal. The first set of colors are random, picked by my hubby. The 2nd and 3rd are more planned. A color could only touch another once. Which made each color look different in each section.
I made sure to end it with the teal color, as that was the one I started with, and would also be the border color. I think it helps bring it all together nicely.

Specs at a glance:
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft
Hook: G / 4.25 mm
Pattern: #190 from 200 stitches 5 repeats of pattern

Public Hooker

Hello all,

No pictures today... but I wanted to post about my wonderful experience with my crochet at work. I work at Fox River, where we make socks. So I'm "fondling" yarn all day long while packaging the finished product. My breaks and lunch time are spent working on a small project of some kind. I've done a few scarfs *christmas stock* a few squares for a granny swap, along with a red/white/blue round ripple I'm trying to work on. **pictures soon** Well today I really wanted to work on my baby ripple. I was worried about the color changes getting in the way and taking up too much time during my short breaks, but I have them down to a science now and changes are quick. We got to work pretty early today *not planned* and I sat down to start working on the ripple. A few people just stared at me... probably wondering if I was nuts. But the ladies my hubby and I sit with at lunch stopped by and admired the work. Every day these ladies ask me what I have brought to work on that day.

Happy hooking all!

Peggy....

Hey I'm sorry I didn't respond to your comment earlier... I forget to check back on here for comments. I'm used to LJ emailing them to me...

If your still having problems with the Granny Chevron, email me at cheersmurf@gmail.com and I'd be happy to help you out. I tried to find an email address for you on your profile but didn't see one... so I will just go this route! I had alot of problems with the pattern to start with.. but it just took me sitting down and reading it SEVERAL times to get it.

Here is the latest picture of my ripple. All the colors are in now.. and I am starting to do the second set of colors. It is all still random except for my small rule, the colors in the 2nd repeat can not touch the same colors from the first. So like on the first repeat of colors, the yellow is next to the dark purple and rubine red... so on the 2nd repeat... the yellow can't touch either of those colors. Then the 3rd repeat can't touch any of the same colors as the 2nd set. And so on. That way the colors look a bit different on each section.

Yet another Caron Simply Soft Brites.....

Well I figured out my mistake from my last post.. that will teach me to read a new pattern at night. But I got it figured out! And now have frogged what I started working on.. and started again. I'm now back to where I was before frogging and have added a little bit.

This will be a baby blanket. As I have a horrible problem with starting something so large and then loosing interest. So far it will be part of my stock. A local store owner here in town is re organizing her store and will rent out sections of it. So I may have possible store space where I can sell my creations. I'm so excited about it!!! So this will be something that I'll have up in the shop once it gets going.

I'm also using the Caron Simply Soft. Some BRITES colors and some are not. Colors I'll be using are as follows... Blue Mint *bottom color* Lime Light *2nd color* Iris *3rd* Lemonade *the yellow* Rubine Red, Mango, Grape and Watermelon. And those are also the order in which the colors will go. My husband Chris was my random stripe generator last night. I'm using the Granny Chevron's pattern ( # 190, page 115 ) in Jan Eaton's book, 200 ripple stitches.

I think the pattern is easy enough and the colors bright enough that I should not get bored with this. However I will be starting a new job tomorrow, so hookin time will be limited. But I don't think this one should take too long.. Plus I should have lots of yarn left over for another blanket in this yarn. I may do a regular granny with the leftovers.

**edit to include** Forgot to say that I'm using a G (6/4.25 mm) hook. I really like how the stitches look with this size hook.
