It has been a while since I knit anything. I have been concentrating more on crochet but needed to start another pair of socks. These are for my daughter, Shiloh (the original), in Seattle. I call these the Fruit Stripe socks because they remind me of the gum we used to buy when I was a kid. It is a simple feather and fan pattern with 2 repeats over 32 instep stitches. After I turn the heels, it will be all pattern all the way around 64 stitches.
I think she will like them.

Through a constant and diligent effort (HA!), the back of my ripple vest is almost done. I look forward to making the front and then get the two pieces together. I do believe that it will be done in time for the cool weather here in SoCal. Believe is the operative word...
Just a short post to say that I have officially ceased working on my ripple afghan until the weather cools down next Fall. I still have the ripple vest to work on and, of course, many other projects on the needles/hooks to keep me busy and out of mischief. Sasha doesn't know what to think of this 1/3-done afghan! She refuses to sit on it...for now.
The weather here in SoCal has temporarily cooled off a bit so I managed to get in a few more rows on my Ripple Afghan.
This is the newest obsession project that I am working on from the Feb/March issue of Crochet Today. It is still small enough to fit in a plastic zipper bag and stuff into my purse. The single crochet ribbing at the bottom was pretty boring but after that, the crochet is a lot more fun! I changed the colors to ones I liked better, Tan, Natural and Spa Blue.
My yarn-snobbery has taken a beating what with the Caron Simply Brites afghan and now this vest out of Lustersheen. I'll take my Humble Pie a la mode, thank you.
I have been rippling for about 3 weeks now. Nearly everything else including housework on my needles/hooks has taken a back seat to this.No matter. The weather will soon become too hot to work on this unless I find a friend with a walk-in cooler...
Truly, a heat wave in the L.A. area at the very time that I am crocheting a giant afghan that sits in my lap and makes me too warm to begin with. Quelle surprise.
After working on it for less than a week, I have been through two rounds of each color. It reminds me of the Caribbean, not that I have ever been there. It measures about 13 1/2" so far. I figure I will make it about 6 1/2' in length so I am about 1/6 of the way there. I should have it finished by 2010.
...my name is Molly. I live in Canoga Park, CA and I have just joined the "Ripple Along". I wasn't going to make a ripple afghan or join, for that matter. That is not until I saw the work-in-progress of Oiyi and her Caron Simply Soft Brites ripple. I knew I was done for. So with a nod to her lovely creation, here is the start of mine. I began working on it yesterday and this is what I have accomplished. I started with a chain of 300 and a size H hook. I am using the Wavy Chevrons pattern on page 70 from The Crochet Stitch Bible. I wanted a blanket that would sit at the end of my Queen-size bed and offer a bright accent to a room decorated in whites and off-whites. Well, this sucker hangs over the sides by about a foot on each side! No matter. I can always up-grade to a King.
The things we do for (ripple) love.
