HELP!!

Ripple is growing. I just laid out my first ripple to measure it and discovered it's growing. Very slightly but it is growing. The row I just finished is almost 2 inches longer then my first row. It's turning into a strange non rectangular shape. It's not very obvious unless you really get it laid out that's whay I hadn't noticed. I'm going to take it apart and start all over. I'm so sad!! I don't want to make the same error again. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I thought I had that darn soft waves figured out. I can't believe I have to take it apart..

I don't remember--are you one of the new crocheters?

ooooooo, take a close-up picture before you rip it out so we can maybe see what was going on. which pattern are you using? how many stitches does your last row have compared to your first?

Ah, OK. Yeah, I had an afghan project that that happened with--as I became more comfortable with crocheting and relaxed into it, my tension decreased. So, that's probably what happened--you became one with your afghan. :)

I just counted my stitches and compared them . I have the same number of stitches in all the rows. Judy you are so right!! I looked closer at my project and you can totally tell how I have gotten looser as I have gone on. The cast on edge is so tight and then the row I just did is nice and loose. So the good news is I'm doing it right the bad news is it still has to be ripped apart.

The only thing you might want to do (after you judge whether "nice and loose" is TOO loose) is go down a needle size when you start over. You don't want your stitches too loose because then the whole thing has no structure, if that makes sense.

Sorry you have to rip, but it sounds like you've gotten the hang of it now, and any further progress will be successful. :)
