Baby Round Ripple Afghan

I just received my invitation for this group a few days ago, and I'm so happy to be here! I am so impressed at the beautiful ripples that I see here.

It just so happens that I have been working on the Baby's Round Ripple Afghan for my niece-to-be, Esther. I'm probably about 2/3 way to being finished with it. I did change it just a little bit...I changed the skip 2 sts to skip 1 st, just my personal preference. And I'm adding a few random rows of pink, wherever I think they will look best. When it is all done, I will edge it with a row or two of the off white, and then add little ribbons to the points. I found the pattern from this site: http://tinyurl.com/2fuvas

I still have 3 more babies in our extended families who will need new blankies. So I think I will be rippling along for a while.

Been Rippling alot

I've been doing alot of rippling. I'm still working on 2 blankets. I ran out of yarn for one and just had to start another.

Here's the white one that I am making for my daughter. It has gotten a little too narrow, so I need to try to add to the sides.

This one is for the hubby and is going well.

This was a baby gift. I added a lining to the back. Talk about a pain....

This is a shirt that I knitted and added a ripple border to the bottom.

Sideways Ripple

I started this out for my daughter's twin size bed and did the old "eyeball it" measurement. Bad plan. It was about 4" too narrow. I decided to add a sideways ripple to make it wide enough.



I got 2 skeins of each of the 8 colors of Lion Brand Wool-Ease and I have enough left over to make a baby doll ripple for her doll cradle. :-)

New to group

Hi all, I'm not new to crocheting but new to this group. I've been reading and have been very inspired by all of the wonderful ripples. I have crocheted for many years and have made a ripple a long time ago. Now my crochet hook is itching to get going on a ripple. Spent some time yesterday afternoon doing samples of some different ripple patterns to decide on which one I want to do. Will post a photo afterI get a few rows finished.

what do you all think do my ends look alright?

MY FIRST RIPPLE & MY SECOND

Hi everyone. Well, here I am, another new rippler. I found the ripple-along just by chance, but it was immediately added to my favorites and I checked it out daily. I've never made a crocheted ripple afghan. I've made lots of granny squares and took some crochet lessons where I did makes some things. I always wanted to be able to crochet easily, but just wasn't very good at it. When I saw all these wonderful and different ripples I decided I would practice until I was able to ripple. I started the one above on Memorial day weekend. I never got more than about 20 rows done until I had to take it apart. Did that 3 different times. On the fouth try I made it and this is where it's gotten to. I've had some other things I've been doing, mainly quilt projects I needed to work on. Had I only been working on the ripple I could have gotten a lot more done. I got Jan Eatons ripple book and I can't wait to start another afghan using one of those different patterns. I'm afraid the ripple bug has got me.

The finished afghan on the right is one I knitted about 25 years ago. I didn't do a lot of knitting but when I saw this in a magazine I decided to try it. It wasn't real difficult but I did struggle at times. Now since I'm getting the feel for crochet, I think I like it a lot better than knitting. I like handling the one crochet hook rather than the knitting needles

I made it!

I'm so proud! I managed to finish my first real ripple on time for my deadline yesterday, when it was to be used as a gift for a Christening.

Ok, so I had to crochet everywhere I went; at my friends house, in the car going to and fro, in front of the telly, at the hair dressers - and way into the night...

I'm so proud of the finished result and now feel ready to start learning how to read a pattern and get crocheting away. I have bought a magazine with some reasonably simple patterns and will be giving one of them a go in the near future.

Thank you for your kind comments on my blog. I'm proud to be able to call myself not just a crocheter, but a rippler to boot!

First set complete

Yesterday night I added the last colour in my set, I'm going to repeat the set about 5 times.

When complete it should be 150 cm long & about 140 cm wide I think, abit wider than I had planned from the beginning, but nevermind. More cosy rippley goodness to curl up in.

Finished first of 2 baby afghans

I finished the first of the 2 baby afghans I am working on. I started it a while back and got it out again. It is for my daughters friend whose baby is due in October.

what does everyone think?> do my edges look alright?

Toys in the attic!

The last time we visited my MIL, we found THIS in her attic.....

It is my DH's grandmother's trunk from around the early 1900's. Inside, MIL had left some of her crocheting, and guess what, it was a ripple! She told me to take it all home with me! YE HAW! The ripple isn't finished, but she still had some extra yarn with it in each color, so I suppose I will try to finish it up! (Happy Dance!) As you can see below, my dog, Asia, is also VERY excited about the find. :)

Hey everyone. It's been a while since i've even worked on this ripple. I tend to have a relatively short attention span when it comes to a lot of things... and this ripple has kind of been cast off to the side a lot lately. Poor thing. It's so pretty. Why did I neglect you?

My birthday is next Saturday. What have I been asking for? Yarn. :) I want some pretty new yarn to make pretty things with. Who knows what it'll turn into.

I made this for a Christmas present for a friend up north. I am washing it and will put it in a space bag, then at Christmas will mail it to her right in the space bag!
Its kind of fun and was very quick to make.

Ripple blanket for Hugo - finished!

I actually finished this weeks and weeks ago, and it's even been delivered to the birthday boy in Brisbane (on Tuesday 15th May).

I'm so pleased with how this came together. And due to the short amount of time I spent crocheting it (I finished it in 10 days), I never once became tired of it.
