I made it!

I'm so proud! I managed to finish my first real ripple on time for my deadline yesterday, when it was to be used as a gift for a Christening.

Ok, so I had to crochet everywhere I went; at my friends house, in the car going to and fro, in front of the telly, at the hair dressers - and way into the night...

I'm so proud of the finished result and now feel ready to start learning how to read a pattern and get crocheting away. I have bought a magazine with some reasonably simple patterns and will be giving one of them a go in the near future.

Thank you for your kind comments on my blog. I'm proud to be able to call myself not just a crocheter, but a rippler to boot!

I see stars before my eyes!

I am so in awe of all the beautiful and HUGE blankets that are being created all over the Globe and am almost embarrassed at the sizes of my own feeble attempts, however, I won't spare you the pictures. :)

I posted my first ripple attempt a wee while ago, which has had to be put aside whilst I meet my deadline! Thank you for your nice comments about it. They gave me confidence in my new found skill.

This attempt is supposed to turn into a baby blanket, which is a gift for a Christening. The Christening is taking place next Sunday!

I had bought some bundles of Jaegers 50g Baby Merino 100% wool in 4 ply in three different blue colours, from which I was knitting a patch work style baby blanket, but it didn't turn out how I wanted it to, so I frogged the lot and started this instead! I'll post update pics on my blog for now and will post a picture here of the finished product.

Until then, please do wish me luck with meeting the deadline! :)

A wee ripple...

I have never really crocheted, but really want to learn and hence have started learning all the names of the stitches, to progress on to reading a pattern...

I have started small and hope to get a wee hand towel for my down stairs loo at the end of my efforts. I suppose I will be creating loads of little face cloths etc over the months until I get to grips with my new project.

Eventually I'll progress to a big woollen ripple... I have been admiring all the wonderful ripples on loads of different websites over the last 4-6 months and just couldn't resist trying to work out the pattern myself. It's rippling all right, but the edges more so than I was hoping!
Oh well, there's one way to learn, and that's practice, practice, practice!

In the meantime I'll watch all your wonderful blankets grow into huge beautiful works of art!
