The End Draws Nigh, Alack Alas
I'm almost done with my first (you notice I said first) Ripple--just a few more ripples to go. To stave off withdrawal, I already have Ripple Two on the back burner, yarn chosen and purchased, even a test run done...but nothing will ever take the place of my darling Ripple One...we've been through so much together, Ripple and I...

Little Ripply Purse
Last night I took a break from my ripple afghan to experiment with silk ripples--but silk being as precious as it is, I didn't want to use too much, and so attempted a little bag:

I made the buttons by crocheting a thin tube, three stitches, coiling it, and then stitching the coil. I like the middle button, but am not sure about the purse--I think I'll use it as a makeup case and call it a day.

Ripple in Still Water
Has anyone thought of the Grateful Dead? I often sing that song in my head as I ripple along--it really fits the mood!
Liane's gorgeous baby ripple reminded me that I too had made one for my little girl, when she was a baby six years ago. I unearthed it:

It saw a lot of action, and any number of washings and dryings, and held up surprisingly well. I used a single crochet for the border, which I think I'll do for this one. I'm progressing along on the new one:

And if you like, you can check out my blog for another entirely different sort of ripple afghan I'm knitting, "Lizard Ridge" in Noro Kureyon.
Your ripples are all looking so great! I love this blog!

Stash Guilt
I'm getting on, albeit slowly. I have replenished my bowl, with some old favorites and some new colors, including blood orange, dark purple, and several new shades of pink:

A peculiar run has emerged, the red/pale blue/dark green:

But it really is still so much fun. I've raided my stash for my sister, and have high hopes that she will take up this soothing habit--I came up with quite a haul, of nice various DK. She'll be doing me a huge favor, as I'm very guilty over the enormity of my stash, that some really nice quality stuff lies fallow, and that STILL I continue to seek out new yarn!!!

My Friend Ripple
I'm really starting to enjoy my ripple. I'm not sure what did it, but the last few rows have convinced me to just roll with it. I usually like to plan my projects, so it's been fun to just see what colors follow as I go:

I have more yarn on the way to refill the fruit bowl when I'm out. I'm saving some of the lavender for the border.

Sentimental Crochet Hooks
I began my ripple with my special crochet hook from my Grandma Eva, found it felt weird to hold, switched to a steel size E, but have tonight returned to the old hook. I just love it so much, and am going to try to get used to the feel. I posted pictures of these hooks on my blog. Does anyone else have a special hook they're working with? I know someone did mention also using one from their grandma. Anyway, it's nice to think that my Bubbe is rippling along with me. I'm sure she would have enjoyed this!

Rippling in Brooklyn
Hi Ripplers,
Tonight I've been contemplating my Ripple ingredients--some stashed and some new Rowan Cotton Glace--and trying out different widths for my afghan. I think I'm now on the move! I love all of the colors and variations I'm seeing from everyone, and can't wait to see mine progress. It's really impossible to tell what it'll turn into, right? I guess the mystery is part of the appeal... my only disappointment so far is that I had to switch from a lovely vintage crochet hook of my grandma's (which was kind of uncomfortable to hold) to a plain old steel one...well, so be it!
