All of the colors...

...are now a part of this thing. And again I've been having trouble with the internet, so once more I have pics that are a few days old. The beginning of day 18 (Monday)looked like this:

I finally got to add the first stripe of cream, the last of my nine colors. I swear that cream in Zara is the softest of its whole range. It's absolutely wonderful to work with. I've since added a couple more stripes, and I hope to be able to add a couple more today. A stomach bug has kept me from work for the better part of this week so far, so I've got the time, but I don't know if I have the energy.

On a side note, I'm wanting to finally get a stitch dictionary. Which is your favorite? Any suggestions?

Who's in Sydney?

I've been trying to post for three days now, but I couldn't get my internet connection to work (I'm now at the in-laws'). So here's my progress up to day 13 of my ripple, Wednesday (it's now Saturday in Sydney). I have done about 3 more strips beyond this since then. But I was so excited to finally reach this spring green. It'll come up more after a few more rows, and I'm just about to reach my last of the nine colors I've got: lovely, soft cream, to give the whole thing a fuller range from darks to lights. This pic shows the waves-on-waves effect I'm getting, but there's one that shows it better on my blog.

To the title of my post, someone from here came in to
Tapestry Craft (the LYS I work at) in Sydney yesterday. The staff member in the wool department called me to ask if I was part of the ripple-along, so of course I said yes. And she said there was a customer with her that was also participating and that she would send this person up, but they never came to see me! I was upstairs in the embroidery department yesterday. If you're reading this post, please let me know who you are! Stop back in the shop, or visit my blog. I'd love to see how your ripple is going.

It's been a long, hard week...

Working at a yarn shop is fun, but it isn't always easy. When I think I'll have room enough to comfortably work on my afghan on the train, I'll take it, but that was only a couple days this week. Any more time I spent on it was once I'd settled down for the night, and that wasn't much. This week has been very busy at the shop, so I'm just exhausted by the time I get home. But after a total of eight days, I've managed to get in 15 stripes.

I didn't mention before that I'm using the soft waves pattern, but I also wanted a "waves on waves" effect, so for the first row of each new color I'm working in the back loop only. It gives it a great extra textural effect. You can see it a little in the pic. I'm enjoying working on this so much. I love the colors, and funnily, it seems to match whatever I'm wearing at the time! More on my blog.

Hey y'all, from Down Under

I'm a South Carolinian (a Charleston girl) living in Sydney, Australia, so it's great to see how many people from all over are a part of this thang.

I got to start my ripple blanket on Friday night and so as of day 4 I've got this far:(Sorry about the pic, it was dark when I took the pic and I was wanting to get this put up here! I'll take more pics in daylight.)

I'm working with Filatura di Crosa Zara, and it's absolutely delicious. It so rocks to work at a yarn store! The colours are just singing "tiptoe through the tulips"! I'm using a 5.00mm, size H. I haven't even got to the spring green and cream, and I'm just so excited about it. If it wasn't so darn relaxing to do, I'd be dancing around the house with it. I'm also going to be trying to post about it on my blog, but I'm a bit lazy about it.
