vintage ripples

Hi everyone. Been a while since I posted, or even read this blog, but I thought I'd post this pic:

It is from a vintage crochet magazine I just got from Ebay. Cracks me up, that lady in her ripple skirt (isn't she elegant standing like that?!) Oh, actually, I think these ripples are knit.

This other pic is the cover of a knitting book I bought on Ebay. Made with Noro yarn, it makes an incredibly gorgeous coat, doncha think?

Ciao!

chevron hat

Hey, look what I just found! This is a pattern for a knitted chevron hat, it looks really cool! Check it out here.

I seem to be really good at finding more patterns to make, but not so good at finishing my almost done ripple cotton blankie! Soon, my lovelies, soon.... :D

Yah, I'm still here...;)

Hi all. I am still here, and still working on my ripple. Doesn't look like I've done too much, but I did take a break for a couple weeks with our weather in the humid 90s. Now it is perfect weather again to sit outdoors with the ripple blanket on your lap, and go to town!

Here's my latest pic, it's a few rows bigger than last time I posted :)

using my pattern, F hook, and Sugar N Cream cottons--loving all the blues....:D

Almost there....

Don't think I posted the latest in-progress shots of my happy ripple:

using this pattern, and Sugar 'N Cream cottons. I love this, can't wait to see what happens to the fabric after first wash!

Me ripple, aaaargh

Don't know why I'm talking like a Pirate today...maybe because I feel like I found a treasure yesterday. Was at Hobby Lobby for a refill on my Sugar & Cream yarns, and saw Leisure Arts books were 30% off.

Score!
Here's how far my cotton ripple has gotten:

It truly is no-end-in-sight looking now!
It's big enough to cover my legs, which was nice yesterday as it was a bit cool in the shade. I sat in my patio lounge chair and worked on a couple of rows. This is one cozy blanket for warm weather. Can't wait to continue.

As promised yesterday, here's the ripple pattern I am using for my 100% cotton ripple blanket.

Some pictures of my progress

I'm actually farther along than this, but no photos yet!!! I'm loving this...!

I started my ripple.....

Yay, I finally started my ripple blanket! Using my own pattern, which I'll post on my blog tomorrow. Had all this yarn sitting there for days waiting for me...

So yesterday I just jumped in and started. I'm using my own pattern, deviating from the previous color arrangement I used in my test piece.

Decided to go with a double row of dc instead of alternating dc/sc, similar in appearance to most people's on the blog here. I'll post my pattern soon--it's easy.

I like everyone's ripples here--I am very inspired by all the creative people out there in yarn-land. Opal has made so many of these it makes my head spin!!! My objective is to make a summer weight blanket. I love the weight of the Sugar & Cream after washing and shrinking, and I love the way it drapes. So in spite of other projects still unfinished, I started. It's been fun so far!

My Ripple Mat

Hey ripplers, wanted to let you see my first ripple. I've been watching and lurking here for a couple of months, the anticipation of my own ripple building....

I decided to go small to start with, so a mat in Sugar & Cream 100% cotton was started...

This was to help me decide if I wanted to start a larger project, because, to tell the truth, the idea of a cotton blanket really appeals to me....

Had to run to the store to pick up 2 colors for the mat, and look what I found:

Yep, I'm in it for keeps now!!! Blankie here I come....
