My Very First Ripple

I am dying to make a ripple blanket for my daughter, so I bought the Jan Eaton book, and decided to make a little sample blanket out of soft waves, just for practice. (It is now a babydoll blanket). I used Cascade 220. It was leftover from a granny square afghan that I made for my oldest daughter.

I am really glad I did the sample. I learned that I will need to cast on with a larger hook next time, and I also learned that my gauge gets looser with each row. Maybe I was crocheting tightly in the beginning because I was learning how to ripple. (I'm also a fairly new crocheter).

Anyhow, here are pics of my very first ripple project. I am a huge fan of the ripple!

I would love to hear how everyone sews in their ends when they ripple, and I would also love to know if y'all have any tips on changing colors.

I'm so proud to be a part of the "No-End-In-Sight Ripple-Along"!

How gorgeous! I love the colors, the pinks just pop against the soft greens. My son loves green, so I haven't thought of it as a girly color, but that little bit of pink totally rocks the look!

As for the ends, I just crochet over them as I do the next row. I don't know if that's the way it's supposed to be done, but it's the way I have done it.

Beautiful! Great colours! I always run my ends in with a darning needle. I usually try to keep up with the ends as my work progresses. Running in ends becomes a daunting task if left until the whole thing is finished! When I change yarns, I do the last stitch in the old colour until there are two loops on my hook, then I loop the new colour through and continue on with that. I hope this helps.

Beautiful piece. The baby who will use it will be a happy baby.

I would have never thought to have a faux border/edging by making them a different color. Great idea! I will have to try that out sometime.

Peace

That is so lovely, it feels fresh like a garden in bloom! I also crochet right over the ends when I switch colors, it's easy, quick and a finished look as you go. great job on the sample/doll blankie!
