Happy 2008! - and an update

Warmest wishes to you all for a happy and healthy 2008!

Here's the ripple I started one year ago today:

Not much progress, I'm afraid, but as I explained in my first post, I had a lot of other crocheting to do last year. Then, of course, there's always Christmas, with its snowflakes* and Turkey Butts.
*Update Jan 9 - Hey, I just noticed that this link only takes you back to April '07 but I've got snowflake posts (some with pattern links) all the way back to December '06. Guess you'll have to trawl my archives for those.

Naturally, my Tinkle loves the afghan (any afghan). Isn't she sweet?!

Your ripple is gorgeous and so is your kitty! Looks like you are pretty far along on your blanket and that is truly impressive with other crocheting in the mix. Personally, I am a newbie and the snowflakes look especially scary :-)

Hi Jan, and thank you!

Working with thread is a different experience, but once you get used to it, well, snowflake or afghan, it's all the same stitches - it's just how you put them together! :-)

You could always pick a simple pattern and work it up in yarn first. Use a smaller hook than you normally would to give it a bit of body. It'll look great!

Your afghan is very pretty. Your colors are warm and happy. What kind of yarn did you use? Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Leah and Bella!

I'm using Roly-Sport (William Unger & Co). I'm not sure if it's even available anymore. It was part of my mother's stash. It's soft and squishy and I love working with it.

I think I know what you mean about your description of soft and squishy. I am currently using a yarn I purchased at Hobby Lobby - it is their own brand called 'I love this yarn' I think it is soft and squishy. I am sorry I forgot to mention your kitty is so cute. When I figure out how to post pictures of my afghans (ripples) I will include my pet too.

Your Tinkle is indeed a sweetie pie from what I can see! Isn't it something the way they love our knitting and crocheting so much.
