Ocean baby blanket FO

I finished ripple #3 early yesterday morning. I can't wait to give it to her. I talked to her on Monday and it was confirmed that she is having a little boy(which is what the early pink or blue test said). So this is Dylan Scott's first blanket. They are doing an ocean/fish theme, so I have been calling it the ocean blanket. It kinda looks like ocean waves:) It is made with Caron SS, a size G hook, is about 34 by 36 and it took me about a month to crochet. I took me over an hour just to FINISH tucking the ends in:) My mini Dachshund Emory is modeling it again.... She is so funny, I think she enjoys the photo shoots:)

Cross posted at my blog.
Thanks for the motivation to finish and post this thing everyone:) Everyone's ripples are looking fabulous!

I love the colors. Very ocean-y.
For next time, remember that you can crochet over the loose ends when you change colors. This way you won't have any ends to sew away.

Some like to crochet over the ends, but not me...I feel like they are more secure when you tuck them.

I love your colors!

Anina, Thanks! I did crochet over them one way but I like to then tuck them in and up going the other way one row up. Makes me feel a bit more secure. My ripple that I did three rows per color, I was able to crochet over the edges when I put a sc on the edge.
Samtaro, Thanks, I hope she loves the colors too...Like is said ^ I kinda do both. I think if I hadn't crocheted over them one way it would have taken me much longer, plus this way I feel really secure they are not going anywhere...:)

I love it, as always! You ought to free form crochet some fish to attach, since its for a baby! Now you've given me another idea! I REFUSE to start anything else, Michelle!!!!! :)

Hi, Michelle. Emory is a doll baby. I'll bet she's a real lover. Just waiting for someone to give here a hug.
You really did choose some pretty colors for the afghan. It will definitely go great in a fishie room.

What great colors! My 4 1/2 year old son has been asking me to crochet a blanket for him (I'm making a granny square blanket for my daughter right now), so I might borrow your color scheme and use it for a granny square blanket for him (I don't know how to do ripples yet!).

Michele,
I just discovered this sight. Your baby blanket is exactly what I have been looking for. I have never done a ripple and am a
little nervous to start one. I have a new granchild due in October I will be using similar colors in a varigated yarn along with a solid color. What are the dimensions of your blanket? How many chains did you start with? Did you follow a particular pattern? Help!!
I really need encouragement.
