Hey there. I realise that as I am only about a quarter of my way into my first ripple I should probably not be dreaming of my second (in much the same way that it isn't really the done thing to imagine your second husband when married to your first, but who doesn't?). With that said though, I want to make a baby blanket for an infant of undetermined sex and would love some colour advice. If I make it in cream I think I will be bored out of my mind before I get more than 5 inches in. Also, any advice on size would be appreciated. Don't want to spend until the baby is seven crocheting the damn thing!
Here is the progress on ripple number one, by the way.

I live the colors on ripple number one. They look like the ocean. What yarn are you using?
I am using all cotton yarns, mostly Rowan handknit cotton, with some Jaeger aqua and Debbie Bliss cotton dk thrown in.
for the baby one - I'm actually considering making one in 'vintage' type colors. red, that nice golden yellow, off-white, green, orange, etc.
I don't know how to describe the shades, but not so PRIMARY colors, kwim? But a lot of really nice colors and it could go for a girl or a boy.
Or Light blue, white, and red, I think that would work too.
btw, I'm LOVING the blues you chose for your first, just beautiful!
I love your idea of 'vintage' shades - for a child or an adult! Muted primaries (apricot, celadon, turquoise, cherry as opposed to fire-engine red) will make a beautiful, unique palette that will suit a girl and a boy equally well. Ripple on!
Maybe soft green, yellow and white?
Wow. I adore the colours your using for Ripple One! Really beautiful.
May I ask which ripple pattern you're using? Is it Soft Waves? I love the way it's very scalloped, rather than zig-zaggy (not that there's anything wrong with zig-zags, of course!).
I say primary brights. Primary colors never look dated, and babies love bright colors.
Thanks so much for all your wonderful suggestions! I am going shopping on monday and will let you know what I find!
The pattern is soft waves - I also prefer a bit less of a zigzag!
hey....im making a baby blanket in ripple in pale yellow, mint green, light blue, turqua could work
I also love the colors you have used in your first ripple.
I can't work on just one project at a time, I think I have 5+ currently in the works, so I am always thinking of new projects to do.
I am currently working on a baby blanket ripple in bright primary colors. You guessed it, it is in a rainbow color pattern. So bright and cheerful.
Lovely color combination.
