Yay!!! I'm so excited

I was looking on the internet for some Red Heart Baby Yarn in sweet dreams because it wasn't at any of the craft store around where I am. I also was just looking for a linear pattern that I could use to add to the monster of a blanket that I had been working on. And it was just my luck that I came across this blog. I was really impressed by all the beautiful ripples but I was also intimated because I am sort of self taught so I really don't know all the technical stuff about crocheting, like the different stitches and what not. But this blog gave me the motivation to start reading up on crocheting and I have learned to read patterns which was one of the more important things that I needed to figure out. I wasn't going to start my ripple until I finished the giant blanket that I had been working on but the Red Heart yarn that I ordered took forever to come and I was bored over spring break so I went out and bought some Caron Simply Soft BRITES and that was that. Because school is getting really busy and I have midterms next week I haven't had much time to work on my ripple but it's coming along. I am using the soft waves pattern that I found on the blog and I have made a few mistakes but I decided not to frog because I had already done 9 to 12 rows before I realized that I had only done 4dc when I should have done 6 after a peak but it's not that noticeable and more toward the edge (I learned a valuable lesson: I can't crochet while I'm on the phone). My pattern is a simple rainbow with 2 rows of black between every 3 rows of color and besides that one mess-up, it's coming along really well and I already love it. Thanks again for inviting me...I am beyond excited

It looks great...and by the way I cannot crochet on the phone either. I've had to start over SO many times, its killing me! I am using Caron SS also and LOVE it!

Ooh, I love the black in here - it really makes the other colours (which are delicious, btw) pop! Gives it a sort of stained glass effect. Cool!

I really like the black in between the colors. It makes them stand out that much more.

The black really sets off the colors marvelously. What a great idea! I think doing the same thing with ivory/white instead of black would be a good idea, too.
