Ripple Pillow

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Look! It's a ripple pillow cover! So far this is turning out to be one of my favorite projects. I love the way it looks on my couch.

Every time I see it I smile.

So now I'm going to take a small break from the ripples to finish some other projects that I've been neglecting. (Not to mention housework or a social life.) But no worries. I will soon be back to show you the stash busting ripple that I'm planning.

Keep it up everyone. I'm still loving drooling over everyone's beautiful ripples.

Done!

Yes. I've finished my baby ripple. I'm actually sad to be finished so soon. But don't worry, I'll be back very soon. I've already started a ripple pillow cover for a couch pillow. And I have big plans for a ripple throw made of stash yarn.

Keep rippling, everyone! (And check out my new blog.)

Cant...stop...rippling...

If I had known how addictive this would be, maybe I would have waited to finish the many other projects that I need to finish for friends or family. Oh well, too late now. The ripple has taken over my life. I did almost nothing but ripple yesterday, and here's my progress so far.

I love this project! Every time I look at it, I can't believe I'm actually creating it.

Of course, most of the reason it's so lovely is the yarn. I love how the cotton makes each stitch stand out, and this soft waves pattern is truly ingenious. It makes up absolutely the most lovely ripple pattern ever.
Since this is a baby blanket, I'm nearly finished, but I'm actually sad to have to put it away soon and get back to all my other boring ole projects. *sigh* I guess I'll have to make another one...

I'm also really loving all the new ripples that have cropped up in the last few days since I've fallen into my ripple coma. Great job everyone! They're all stunning!

Here's one last picture...

My first ripple...

Well, I have been crocheting for about 5 years now, but I've never done a ripple blanket. Truthfully I never felt a strong pull towards the ripple...until now. I've been lurking on this sight everyday for a month now just salivating over all the beautiful ripples! So of course I had to do one myself. The greatest thing about it is that I didn't have to buy any yarn to do this ripple. (I probably will end up buying yarn, because I'm a yarn junkie, but I don't have to.) I had a bunch of Sinfonia mercerized cotton left over from a striped camisole top, and also a teeny bit of Rowan cotton from another top. Sinfonia cotton is one of my favorite cottons because you get a lot of yarn for a reasonable price. I live in Houston, so cotton yarn is sort of a necessity. There's just not much call for wool around here. But also, I love the way cotton yarn shows off the stitches. I'm using a size F hook and I'm picking the colors at random as I go, which is part of what makes this SO fun. It truly is addicting. This is going to be a baby blanket for one of the many friends of mine that are about to have or adopt a baby at any moment. I haven't picked an actual recipient yet. I just wanted to make the blanket!

The pattern is Soft Waves from 200 Ripple Stitch Patterns.
I started by chaining 132 which makes this blanket about 32 inches wide (so far.)
