A finished ripple, for my soon-to-be baby niece. I'd had a bunch of Knitpicks Shine Worsted stashed for ages, and FINALLY it became this blanket. I love the colors, and the yarn gets amazing drape.

This is gorgeous! Could you share more particulars? What pattern do you use? Hook size? Etc.? I am not a crocheter but would love to get started and this could be my inspiration!
Margot, the pattern is Soft Waves from Jan Eaton's book. It's my go-to pattern, and wonderfully easy once you get the hang of it. In fact, I have it memorized. The hook was, I believe, a size E for the Shine Worsted from Knitpicks, very inexpensive and pretty. I usually just pick a color palette I like and then randomly add colors.

Leah, did you have problems with this pattern? I just tried using this pattern and I couldn't get the number of stitches to come out right to match the pattern repeat in the book, no matter how many different multiples of 12 (+3) I used. I've read online that this pattern has mistakes but I can't find any errata for it. How did you make your blanket come out right? It looks perfect.

Veronica, have you made sure that you're putting your starting double crochet into the same stitch as the base of the starting/turning double crochet? So that there are two stitches in one at both the beginning and end of each row? That threw me off a bit at first.

I had no idea there could be a whole blog dedicated to ripple afghans. But this baby blanket is so luscious. My almost-two-year old has a colourful-striped blankie knitted for her when I was expecting her, by the grandmother of one of my students. It must be snuck to the washer under my shirt because it is her BINKY and must go with her everywhere. I suspect this blanket you made will enjoy the same popularity!!
DELICIOUS! This is the kind of ripple I love--beautiful colors and lots of them. I've got to get that Jan Eaton book, I keep seeing FOs made from it that I love, including this one.
