More Vanna-ghan Rows Done

My husband thinks it's odd that I'm working with "30 pounds of yarn" in my lap during the hottest days we've had since 1885, or some such. It does get a little warm under there. The crocheting is fun, but I do dread the end, when I have to weave all those loose ends in. --Susan

Really Pretty! The mix of colors gives it such rich look I've had one of the P hooks for a while, but just haven't wanted to try using more than one strand of yarn. I've only used it to crochet rag rugs. I'm about half done with a soft ripple so I guess I can start something new. You and your afghan have inspired me. I noticed someone mentioned you were a quilter. Me, too. I have more quilt projects going that I can count. But I love it.

So pretty! It is worth being hot when you end up with such a nice end product.

I bet there are lots of us here who also quilt(count me in)!!

Susan, this is just gorgeous!!! You know, I'm available to test it this winter if you want to find out if it is a "good" afghan.LOL

I hear you on those ends, I'm nearly finished with mine and looked down at it last night in horror at all the ends!! That's what I get for changing colors so often!

Love the "earthy" look of this one - very nice!

Beautiful - earthy colors. It will keep you warm when you need it to also!

And about those ends. I crochet over them as I go, so I have no ends to weave in later. Does anyone else do this? Is there a reason not to do this?

Nancy Mc: What a great idea. I think I used to do that too. But I haven't crocheted with different colors in a long time, and I guess I just forgot. Thanks.

I love those colors! Very earthy, and very soothing too.
About the crocheting over the ends...I do that part way, then later I thread the remaining length on a needle and weave them back in the opposite direction. I'm always afraid they'll come loose. It still makes a lot of work doesn't it? Years ago I made a granny square blanket for my baby girl. I didn't know then that knots were a no-no, so I tied all the ends in knots. They never did come loose though.

I'm loving watching the Vanna afghan. The yarns are so interesting together. I'm going to have to take another look at her temptations.

me too, I weave in all ends (crochet and knit) as I go, so I have none, or very few, to weave later. Has completely changed how I feel about color work! Your afghan is gorgeous! I haven't started this one yet (though its the reason I bought the book). Have done 2 of the log cabin baby blankets though!
